Jefferson City, Our Capitol!
My wife recently took the Bar Exam over a couple of days in Jefferson City. This was the view from our hotel window. My son and I had a pretty good time. My wife, not so much.
Yep, his Louisiana Purchase pretty much put us on the map. In fact, on the quad at M.U. in Columbia is one of his tombstones, pilfered after his body was re-buried at some point. Mizzou being I believe the first land-grant university west of the Mississippi. Thanks Geoff!
Yes, I'm the same Scott Quick who rocked the art community of Central Missouri State University during the mid-80's. The same Scott Quick who later made his instructors at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art (Dover, NJ) weep with joy. Disatisfied with the glitz and glammour of Video Game Animation, I've returned to Missouri to await the sweet release of Death. In my spare time, I enjoy watching TV with my wife and son.
As a self-proclaimed Jeffersonian, I'm ashamed to say I had no idea that the capitol of Missouri was named after him. Assuming it was named after him.
ReplyDeleteLovely sketch.
