Bend Sinister
Sketching opportunities abound when I accompany my wife as she volunteers at a local mental hospital. By accident, a reasonably tight rendering with a regular 2B pencil.
A few times, mainly when I've been eating in greasy spoons in out-of-the-way towns, I've seen guys that looked that intense, or otherwise had some oddity like a pipe-shaped chunk taken out of their foreheads, and I've had this insane urge to draw their lumpy, misshapen portraits.
Yes, I'm the same Scott Quick who rocked the art community of Central Missouri State University during the mid-80's. The same Scott Quick who later made his instructors at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art (Dover, NJ) weep with joy. Disatisfied with the glitz and glammour of Video Game Animation, I've returned to Missouri to await the sweet release of Death. In my spare time, I enjoy watching TV with my wife and son.
Now, is this a doctor, or a patient at said asylum?
ReplyDeleteAnd is this the Arkham Asylum or the Innsmouth Asylum?
Lovecraft's of course!
